Martha's DIY Raffia Cocktail Set!

Raffia Cocktail Set
Martha Stewart Living, June 2008

Mini raffia pom-poms atop bamboo skewers create a stir. Bright-green raffia wrapped around the pitcher provides more texture.

Cocktail Set How-To

1. Make the drink stirrers: Using a pom-pom maker and raffia, make a pom-pom (ours are 1 1/2 inches in diameter). Wrap center with floral wire, twisting wire with pliers to secure. Trim wire to 1/2 inch. Repeat to make more pom-poms, using raffia in different colors.

2. Using white floral tape, attach trimmed wire from each pom-pom to a bamboo skewer. Trim each skewer to desired length.

3. Decorate the pitcher: Cut 2 pieces of double-sided tape (3 inches each). Place halfway down side of pitcher, on opposite sides. Wrap raffia around pitcher and over tape, forming a wide band.

..Now, where did I leave my pom-pom maker....?

I aspire to be The Martha...how cool is this, not being the most creative person I'm not sure I can pull this off as beautifully but, gotta try it!

I think I could handle wrapping the raffia around a pitcher, but as for those pom poms...I certainly wasn't blessed in the crafty department. LOL! The pom poms are super cute though!
